Bereaved Family Members’ Perspectives and Funding Opportunity for Hospice Bereavement Programs
This session will be made up of family members who have experienced a death due to opioid overdose sharing their unique experiences and perspectives on bereavement. Bereavement following death due to opioid overdose is often an especially isolating as grievers experience disenfranchisement and stigma. Survivors will discuss how they have coped, what they have found to be helpful and how they choose to remember and honor their loved ones.
As this Webinar series comes to a close, participants will learn about a unique opportunity for hospice bereavement programs to apply for small grants to help them serve this population of bereaved people.
 
Learning Objectives:
  • Discuss unique experiences and perspectives on bereavement following death due to opioid overdose
  • Explore concepts of disenfranchisement and stigma associated with this type of loss
  • Identify personal perspectives on remembering and honoring loved ones who died following opioid overdose
