While there is significant consistency across palliative care programs in overall measurement goals, there is variation in the resources available to support those goals and in the challenges programs encounter when trying to measure. Faculty will review common measurement challenges and possible solutions, based on the experiences of active palliative care programs. Through case studies, this Webinar will focus on the strategies used to address these challenges, given variation in organization type, available resources, and the needs of stakeholders who have an interest in palliative care metrics. Participants will gain insight into the degree to which these challenges are impacting their ability to measure palliative care processes and outcomes, to support development of a local remediation strategy.
ObjectivesAt the completion of this program, participants will be able to:
• List common measurement challenges in palliative care
• Describe at least one possible solution for each measurement challenge
• Develop a plan for overcoming challenges in measuring your program’s processes and outcomes
